Adam Berrey
Entrepreneur in Residence, General Catalyst Partners
Adam Berrey is an Entrepreneur in Residence at General Catalyst Partners in Cambridge. Since 1995, Adam has been starting and building Internet technology companies. He began his career as part of the founding team at Allaire — pioneering the market for web application servers with their flagship product ColdFusion. Leading strategic marketing, he helped grow the company to more than $120 million in revenue and a $2.5 billion peak market cap.
Following Allaire, he spent several years at Macromedia where he led global marketing and helped to launch more than 14 products, including several industry-defining new 1.0 releases. In 2003, he became co-founder and President of Onfolio, which built consumer Internet research and information sharing products. After Onfolio was acquired by Microsoft, Adam went on to join the executive management team at Brightcove. Adam spent four years leading marketing and strategy as Brightcove created the online video platform category and established the dominant position in the market.
Outside his work in the business world, Adam has spent more than two decades active in the environmental movement and a variety of non-profits. He serves on the Board of Directors for Soliya and MITX, the policy committee of the New England Clean Energy Council, and works with a variety of other regional and national non-profit organizations.
When he’s not building companies and organizations, you’ll most likely find Adam racing sailboats or wandering way off the beaten path somewhere in the world.
